About
Annabelle Kern was born in Frankfurt am Main and grew up in Germany and Switzerland. The young soprano celebrated her opera debut in Puccini's LA RONDINE in the role of un cantore at the Zurich Opera House in September 2023.
Since 2023 she has been studying at the Theaterakademie August Everding in the Master Opera program with KS Prof. Christiane Iven. In March 2024 she will make her debut at the Prinzregententheater Munich in the rediscovered opera ZANAIDA by Johann Christian Bach as Cisseo. She will also be performing in Mike Svoboda's DIE KATZE, DIE IHRE EIGENEN WEGE GING at the Akademietheater in the 23/24 season.
She completed her bachelor's degree at the Berlin University of the Arts under Prof. Carola Höhn, where she made her debut as Barbarina in July 2022 as part of the production of LE NOZZE DI FIGARO.
In addition to opera, Lied has been part of her everyday life since the beginning of her career. She has given regular solo recitals with her duo partner Valentina Pfister in the Zurich area since 2019.
She was a multiple prize winner at the "Swiss Youth Music Competition", in 2018 she became a finalist of the Elvira Lüthi Wegmann Foundation Competition "Elvirissima" and a finalist at the Förderpreis Klassik of the Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich. In 2022, she won 1st prize at the LIONS Music Prize Germany in District 111ON and 3rd prize at the LIONS Music Prize Switzerland.
She was an active participant in masterclasses with Prof. Edith Wiens, Prof. Ulrike Sonntag, Prof. Aris Argiris and Prof. Thomas Seyboldt.
